Mrs. Amy Morey
I am a Special Education teacher who works with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in a resource room, as a consultant teacher, and an inclusive classroom co-teacher. I grew up in Elma, NY and graduated from Medaille College after high school with a B.S. in Business. I then attended Houghton College in 2009 and graduated with a dual degree to become an elementary teacher. I have been married for fifteen years to my husband Dale and have two children here at Belfast — Autumn and Luke.
Prior to teaching, I held a job in banking and mortgaging, as well as a co-owned a cleaning business. As for past teaching experiences, I have worked at Belfast, Wellsville, Boardmanville, and Pioneer Central School Districts in both elementary and middle school settings. I actually completed my student teaching here at Belfast!
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, walking, watching movies with my family, and being an active member of my church.
What I enjoy most about teaching is spending time with each student and getting to know them as individuals. Every child is so different and special in their own way, and it is wonderful to get to know all about that individual! It is also rewarding to see the progress a student has made, and how I can be the one to help them achieve their goals. Students need to have confidence, and that is exactly what I wishe to give them.
I desire for every student to hear the message that hard work does pay off, and to believe in the power of “yet.”
