Mrs. Jessica Romance

Well, hello there! I am in my 12th year at Belfast Central School and am proud to be a Belfast Bulldog. I have wanted to be a teacher my entire life and am happy to be fulfilling that dream at BCS!

I graduated from Fillmore Central School in 2005 and then attended Houghton College where I graduated in 2008 with a degree in Inclusive Childhood Education with minors in English & Communications. Following my undergraduate years, I worked as a graduate assistant at St. Bonaventure University and completed my Master's degree in Literacy. In my 15 years of teaching, I have taught pre-school, kindergarten, special education, resource room, and 2nd grade. This is my first year teaching 5th and 6th grade ELA and I'm so glad to be able to share my passions of reading and writing with our middle schoolers. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise--middle schoolers are awesome!

I am also the co-director for the elementary & high school musicals at BCS. I strongly believe in fostering well-rounded children and encourage them to be excellent in all aspects of life, academics, sports, and music.

My husband Peter and I currently reside in Fillmore in the home we built, only 1 mile from my childhood home. We have two children, Katelyn & Aaron, two dogs, a cat, and horses. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family. I love hiking, reading, horseback riding, singing on my church worship team, ice skating on my pond, baking, quilting, and watching, coaching, and playing sports, especially soccer and softball. I also love country music, traveling, the beach, and I could eat ice cream any time, any place! My favorite places to travel to are the Adirondack Mountains and Beulah Camp, New Brunswick, Canada.

I absolutely love what I do and feel ridiculously blessed to teach at Belfast. Teaching gives me an excuse to be a life-long learner and to impact students' lives for the better!
