The community support for our students and school has been outstanding over the past year as the facility underwent the renovation.
As a District, it seemed appropriate to celebrate our upgraded athletic complex by honoring a Belfast, and Allegany County, coaching icon, Mr. Rich Sullivan. Coach was accompanied by some of his family: his wife Diane, son Mark and daughter-in-law Amy, daughter Sandy, and grandkids Emma, Max, and Abby.
Coach dedicated his career to the betterment of the students of Belfast Central. For 48 years, 13 years as a student and 35 years as a teacher and coach, Mr. Sullivan was a part of Belfast where he touched the lives of so many people. In retirement he continues to support BCS as he attends athletic and other school events to watch his grandchildren.
As the BCS baseball coach, Mr. Sullivan had an overall record of 203 wins and 298 losses. He coached his teams to 3 Allegany County Baseball League Titles and 1 Section V Baseball Championship.
However, it is fair to say Coach was more known for his skills as a soccer coach. He is 5th all-time in Section V wins as a coach with an overall record of 453 wins, 163 losses, and 53 ties. He led his teams to 20 Allegany County Soccer League Titles and 8 Section V Soccer Championships.
The Belfast community is very thankful for everything you have done to touch the lives of our school and community.
